The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde has an opening for a Customs/Expeditor/Shipment Clerk. This position is located in Yaounde.
Work Hours: Full time; 40 hours/week
Grade: FSN-05; FP-09

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Shipping Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for expediting travelers, managing the unit’s files, preparing paperwork, and handling the import, export, customs clearances and exonerations of USG official property and American personnel personal property.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education: Completion of High School (GCE 1. : “A” level, Baccalauréat or equivalent) is required.
Experience: At least two years of progressively responsible work experience in the shipping, transportation or customs field in an international organization or a large local institution is required.
Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and French are required and will be tested.
Job Knowledge: The applicant must have a good working knowledge of Cameroonian customs and registration procedures, including Sydonia operations; air and sea freight procedures; and procedures for verification of invoices. In addition, the applicant should have a thorough understanding of the Cameroonian customs regulations, procedures and protocol with the local government and the Ministry of External Relations. Job knowledge may be tested.
Skills/Abilities: The incumbent must be computer literate (MS Word and Excel) with a typing ability of 20 wpm; must be diplomatic and tactful, yet effective in dealing with Cameroonian customs and government officials and personnel of shipping companies; must have excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to work independently and be proactive; must possess a valid Class B driver’s license and have a clean driving record. Skills and abilities may be tested.
