The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde is seeking an individual for the position of Generator Technician in the Facilities Maintenance Section. This position is located in Yaounde.

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
The Generator Technician is responsible for the continued operation of the emergency electrical power generators and associated equipment. This is accomplished primarily through the use of a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Program. Incumbent should be able to work as a Duty Technician on a 24 hours basis.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for the continued operation of the emergency electrical power generators and associated equipment. This is accomplished primarily through the use of a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Program. Incumbent should be able to work as a Duty Technician on a 24 hours basis.
Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of types and sizes of generators and associated equipment at intervals determined by OBO, local ambient conditions and manufacture’s specifications. Identifies required spare parts, gets vendors quotes, submits e-services requests and then follows through with complete procurement status. Organizes all required parts and materials for scheduled services such as coolant and oil changes, arranges for purchase of materials not normally stocked. Insures that proper fuel supplies are maintained at each site. Maintains logbook and forms as required. Works closely with the Maintenance Foreman and Supervisor to insure an adequate inventory of spare parts is maintained. Generates purchase requests for parts as required using manufactures parts catalogs, internet and other sources to search for required spare parts and vendor price quotes. Performs both Major mechanical and Major electrical repairs on generators. Performs electrical duties on regular basis including EBO Douala property as needed. Installs and maintains Automatic Voltage regulators, automatic transfer switches, Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors, Electrical Panels, maintains all generator voltage regulator alarm systems, installs cooling fans, in accordance with established trade practices and methods. Troubleshoots electrical problems in electrical switchgear, and power generation equipment, and repairs if necessary. Performs routine maintenance checks, adjustments and replaces defective parts. Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults. Maintains all tools, equipment and PPE, insuring they are in good working condition. Responsible for a clean work site upon completion of task. Performs Minor and Major repairs and PM on generators.
Provides assistance to other crafts (AC Technicians, electricians and Plumbers) as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education: Completion of elementary school plus four years electricity/Generator Technician study/training (equivalent of CAP) in a technical or vocational school or any accredited institution is required.
Experience: At least two years of Journeyman Generator Technician work experience in an international organization or a large institution is required.
Language: Level 2 (Basic Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and Level 2 (Basic Knowledge) Speaking/Reading French are required and will be tested.
Knowledge: The applicant must be able to operate high power electrical generator equipment sets, automatic voltage regulation equipment, automatic transfer switches, adjust operating controls, read and interpret test instruments and meters, maintain and make major electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment. Job knowledge may be tested.
Skills/Abilities: The incumbent must be able to understand theory and practical performance of operation, maintenance and repair procedures for a variety of manufactures generator transfer switches, automatic voltage regulators and diesel powered generator drivers. He/She must have basic knowledge of mathematics. Skills and abilities may be tested.
