The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde has an opening for a Expeditor/Driver/Travel Clerk. This position is located in Douala.
Position: Expeditor/Driver/Travel Clerk (FSN-06; FP-08)

Work Hours: Full time 40 hours/week
Grade: FSN-06; FP-08

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the General Service Office (GSO) Assistant, incumbent providesexpediting, driving, and travel assistance support to Mission and EBO Principal Officer; maintainsvehicles and vehicle records in accordance with General Services Office Motor Poolguidelines/regulations. Duties include: meeting and assisting official travelers, keeps Meet & Greetschedule current, confirms airline and hotel reservations, and performs other associated expeditingand travel clerk duties as requested; driving passenger car, vans, and trucks within city, surroundingareas, and long distances for official purposes; performing minor repairs and maintenance checks ofoffice and official residence equipment (A/C units, replacement of water filters and electrical bulbs),trouble-shoots minor problems with generators, copiers, shredder, and other equipment and replacestapes at the server room in the absence of the GSO Assistant.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities for Expeditor-Driver-Travel Clerk.
a) Services as expeditor for EBO – 80% of time
Performs meet and assists for official travelers, keeps Meet & Greet schedule current, confirms airline and hotel reservations, and performs other associated expediting and travel clerk duties as requested.
b) Drives post vehicles (passenger car, vans, and trucks) within city, surrounding areas, and long distance for USG official purposes – 10% of time
Performs full responsibilities as a driver, which includes but is not limited to:

Performs minor repairs and maintenance checks to office and official residence equipment (A/C units, replacement of water filters and electrical bulbs; trouble-shoots minor problems with generators, copiers, shredder, and other equipment and replaces tapes at the server room in the absence of the GSO Assistant.
Qualifications Required
Education: Completion of High School (GCE “A” level, Baccalauréat or equivalent) is required.
Experience: At least three years’ experience in travel and/or tourism with at least one year servingas an expeditor in an international organization or a large local institution is required.
Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English and French arerequired and will be tested.
Knowledge: Applicant must have a good knowledge of travel logistics, airport, hotels, city streetsand districts; must be computer literate in Microsoft Word and other software programs usedpertaining to this position. Basic knowledge in motor mechanics is required. Job knowledge maybe tested.
Skills/Abilities: The incumbent must have good mechanical skills and know routine maintenancechecks and services for vehicles; must be able to pass a periodic road test and eye examination;must be able to communicate clearly and effectively by telephone and in person; must have goodinterpersonal skills – be tactful, yet effective in dealing with USG and local government officials;must possess a valid driver’s license (Class B, C, & D) and have a good driver’s record Skills and abilities may be tested.
