The United Nation World Food Program is currently seeking three qualified individuals for the position of field monitor (Food Security and Nutrition), to be based in several field locations (Kousseri , Mora and Mokolo) with competences listed below:

TITLE: Field Monitor (Food Security and Nutrition)

Accountabilities: Under the direct supervision of the head of field office in Maroua the field Monitor (Food Security and Nutrition) will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities.

  1. Support the sub office on implementation food security and the emergency nutrition response approach, and specifically on nutrition sensitive interventions;
  2. Mentor/coach/capacity build cooperating partners and key stakeholders in delivery of high quality program to treat and prevent malnutrition;
  3. To closely work with WFP cooperating partners and other key stakeholders to ensure joint delivery of an essential package of complementary services, at scale, targeting the most vulnerable populations;
  4. Assist in qualitative assessments in communities and among households to asses effectiveness of interventions and impact;
  5. Monitor the food security and nutrition situation in far north region: follow-up and analysis of key indicators & trends influencing food security and nutritional vulnerability in the region;
  6. Ensure the timely production of monthly and technical reports from the field;
  7. Develop and provide regular update quarterly action plan of food security and nutrition activities with cooperating partners through monthly meetings;
  8. Follow up the activities, analyze and evaluate food security and nutrition activities;
  9. Produce quality-reports of project activities for both internal and external circulation diffusion;
  10. Ensure good coordination and representation towards cooperating partners and other relevant nutrition partners;
  11. Document on best practices & lessons learned, producing analysis and briefing/ discussion papers;
  12. Ensure representation trough all relevant forums including the nutrition technical working group meeting and facilities experience share with relevant partners;
  13. Report periodically to the program coordinator or direct supervisor on all mission conducted on the field and all relevant  events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues;
  14. Perform any related duties requested by the supervisors.

Critical Success Factors:

Ability to spell and write correctly in English and in French; ability to maintain accurate and precise records and to interpret and analyze a variety of data and resolve discrepancies. Courtesy, tract and the ability to work effectively with people with of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Education:

  • Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in a field Nutrition, nursing or public health.

Experience:

At least three years of professional experience. Applicants must have a broad experience of managing humanitarian nutrition projects on the field, and at least one year experience of implementing a CMAM project. Experience in nutrition needs assessments and surveys (Rapid assessment, SMART) is necessary. Strong diplomatic and communication skills, as an ability to shift priorities and multitask, are needed, applicants must have demonstrated their ability to work in a complicated security environment.

Language

  • Fluent French (spoken and written). Intermediate level English is mandatory

Other desire skills

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft software applications, particularly MS-Office (Word, Excel; Access, Power point, etc.)
