The United Nations World Food Programme is looking for the services of a IT Operations Officer with competences listed below:
TITLE: IT Operations Officer

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES(not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):
- Support the budgeting, planning and deployment of IT and Telecommunications systems that are aligned with business needs, in accordance with WFP corporate standards.
- Provide support to maintain IT and Telecommunications systems and networks, ensuring appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wire area network issues; and supporting users to get maximum benefits from them.
- Install and configure new computer hardware for improving and upgrading system performance; support any technology upgrades as required;
- Provide data and documentation to support the procurement of TC/IT equipment and services at and in line with WFP rules and regulation.
- Collate data and contribute to the preparation of accurate reports on IT/TC investments and costs, providing information to inform decisions-making by stakeholders.
- Develop technical skills and knowledge, and build awareness of industry developments.
- Assume the role of I.T. incident manager for the country office. Plan and implement a concise and efficient incident management procedure(incident logging, assignment and resolution in a timely way) Manage the OSTicket helpdesk system.
- Respond to queries from users, understanding and resolving issues, providing advice and ensuring IT policies, procedures, systems and tools are correctly applied to support them.
- Guide junior staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
- Support the capacity building of staff through the organisation and/or review of training programs aimed at developing skills/knowledge of IT and TC.
- Coordinate with other UN agencies in order to network, align activities and support possibilities of inter-agency collaboration in the field of IT and Telecommunications.
- Interact effectively with colleagues and user groups to understand their needs and provide appropriate technical support.
- Follow standard emergency preparedness and contingency planning pratices to ensure WFP is able to maintain basiC IT services and/or quickly respond and deploy resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.
- Fulfil regional mandate with regards to identification of IT standard, and share information on Greening initiative and VHF Radio Migration to Digital;
- Act as focal point and leader for radio communicatio issues. Lead Senior Telecom assistant for the operation of radio rooms in collaboration with WFP Security and the United Nations Department for Safety and security.
- Work in close collaboration with headquarters network team to lead and supervise the implementation of a secure Wireless Network infrastructure taking in consideration the organization security standards.
- Plan and lead the deployment of new networks and audio/video equipment.
- Manage local Internet service provider contract and lead the feasibility studies for interconnecting all WFP Officers in Cameroun using local infrastructure.
- Follow operational plans and deliver resource requirements at the onset of an emergency.
- Other as required.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced university degree in computer science or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or training courses.
LANGUAGE: National Professional: Fluency(level C) in English and French
