Job Purpose/Summary
The Assistant Cost Controller is responsible to assist the Cost Controller in monitoring, analyzing, controlling and recording the various costs of transactions and activities in Addax Petroleum Cameroon Company.
Key Accountabilities/Responsabilities
Responsabilities of the position include assisting the Cost Controller in :
- Supporting the drilling teams in formulating budgets for both corporate and external budget cycles;
- Assisting the drilling department with the preparation of Authorizations for Expenditure("AFEs") particularly as regards developing realistic cost estimates for activity line items within each AFE;
- Reviewing and processing of drilling invoices to ensure compliance with the commercial terms of contracts and correct coding of costs;
- Developing and producing cost reports for submission to the drilling team, the Cameroon leadershipteam, and the corporate office to explain the drilling cost performance. Provide regular updates of drilling cost performance versus budgets and AFEs;
- Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of monthly Value of Work Done(VOWD) cost estimates and monthly/Quarterly re-forecasts;
- Performing all required financial reconciliation, including cost reconciliations for each completed well;
- Supporting the Contracts & Procurement team(C & P) in the contracting and procurement of drilling materials and services, ensuring that C&P activity falls within planned budgets and that drilling requisitions are coded correctly;
- Participating in regular inventory/stock checks at all locations where drilling stock is held(including 3rd party storage);
- Providing any and all necessary support during routine audits of drilling costs by corporate auditors, partners and statutory auditors.
Interface and Dimensions
Internal interface
- The incumbent is part of a Finance Team of 22 staff.
External Interfaces
- Interacts with Operational Departments, Drilling Team, International consultants, partnering companies, service providers, visitors or staff from Addax Petroleum's Corporate Office and/or other Addax Petroleum Operating Companies.
Key challenges
- Ensure all financials data in his/ her field are processed on time.
- Ensure operation accounts are accurate and analyzed on time.
Experience / competence & Requirements
- University degree in relevant subject field required; formal accounting qualification is a requirement.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in finance roles in the oil and gas industry is a must. Experience with drilling operations would be a distinct advantage, but is not required.
- Good knowledge of financial accouting systems is required. Previous experience with Sun, Vision and Proactis would be ideal, but is not a requirement.
- Good understanding of standard oil and gas/joint venture accouting practices.
- Reasonable familiarity with Exploration & Production Operations - particularly drilling and well services operations.
- Language skills: English - Fluent (Required); proficiency in French would be a distinct advantage, but it is not a prerequisite.
