Context
AFS is an international Christian association working in the humanitarian field. Its actions aim to support Christians who are suffering because of their faith. This assistance is provided through several well-developed programmes.
GOAL
- support the sub region to align to the compliance levels required by the organisation and country regulations, finance, and audit standards.
MAIN MISSIONS
- Support the sub region in implementing its vision and strategy.
- Provide managerial oversight over risk & compliance functions
- Support the implementation of a Risk Management framework for the sub-region
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to key stakeholders
- Provide oversight and guidance to Risk & Compliance functions
- Ensure adequate training on the organization’s policies & procedures, Risk & Compliance
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop compliance review plans through a comprehensive risk assessment exercise identified by different departments and field offices.
- Lead, establish and collaborate with the internal Risk and Compliance Network across the sub-region.
- Overseeing, initiating, and coordinating the development of compliance policies and procedures
- Performing compliance/finance reviews in close collaboration with Internal Audit (when needed)
- Developing work plans based on risk assessments and continuously updating them.
- Maintain current knowledge of laws, legislation, and regulations regarding compliance and ethical business practices and behaviour.
- Provide managerial oversight over compliance functions to ensure that compliance support is rendered in accordance with OD & AFSLAB Charter, policies & procedures, country laws & regulations.
- Ensure adequate training of compliance functions on a risk-based compliance program and compliance with local laws and policies & procedures.
- Follow up on the timely submission of risk & compliance reports to the sub-region and regional managers.
- Contribute to the development of Risk and Compliance awareness campaigns.
- Participate in the Risk & Compliance and Finance surveys, consolidate the Issues Log of all country programs, and generate a quarterly trend analysis.
- Attend regular and planned workshops for Risk & Compliance meetings in the regional calendar.
- Facilitate and manage communications and meetings in the sub-region.
- Any ad-hoc responsibilities as and when required by the Sub-Regional Finance Manager.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A degree in accounting and management audit
- At least 5 years' experience in internal audit or a master's degree in audit and management control
- At least 3 years' proven experience, preferably in international organisations.

- Understanding of financial controls and experience of risk management Control
- Analytical skills, intercultural communication and sensitivity, results and relationship orientation, flexibility and creativity;
- Ability to translate complex issues into practical applications;
- Ability to build strong and credible working relationships at a cross-functional level, including well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to obtain support and endorsement from senior management and executive management.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the support of others and positively influence their behaviour
