EGPAF works in partnership with the Ministry of Health NACC and the Regional and District Health Teams to support HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment and health systems strengthening services. EGPAF is mainly funded by PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Purpose of the Job

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation will conduct a study to learn about why men do not want to receive HIV testing. It therefore intends to hire short-term data collectors for a period of at least three months, possibly four months.

Job Summary 

The Study Coordinator must be a self-motivated individual who is experienced in qualitative research methods.  This role will include supervising the Research Assistants (RAs) to conduct in-depth interviews with men in the community.  The Study Coordinator will observe interviews and provide feedback, listen to audio-recordings and confirm the translations, check the informed consent forms for completeness, compile the demographic data collected by the RAs and main the regulatory binder for the study.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Become certified in human subject ethics course (in training) 
• Assist with the data collection training
• Work with community leaders to identify men to recruit into the study.  Liaise with our Community Engagement Officer to ensure correct entry into the community and respectful communications.
• Review all forms completed by the RAs (eligibility screening, informed consent forms, etc.)
• Ensure that the RAs collect data according to the study protocol
• Review transcriptions and ensure that the RAs accurately transcribe and translate audio recorded data 
• Review, verify and make necessary corrections to the transcripts
• Upload the data onto the server at the country office
• Maintain confidentiality of all study data (ensuring correct storage procedures)
• Respond to inquiries regarding data as requested by relevant country office staff
• Compile and prepare weekly update reports for the study team
• Perform other job-related duties this study.
• Organize and compile all transcripts
• Manage the study participants benefits
• Collect the financial reimbursement from the office and provide the correct amounts to the data collectors for study participants (health area leaders)
• Review documentation of reimbursement

Skills and competencies

• Experience in typing on a computer
• Attention to detail
• Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• This position may require working weekends

Qualifications:

• A basic degree in social science, public health or other relevant discipline.
• Computer literacy (ICDL certificate will be an added advantage)
• Fluent in English and French (spoken and written)- will be tested
