ROLE PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Sales & Distribution Director, the Distribution & Trade Marketing Manager has overall responsibility for driving continuous business revenue growth and market share gains through agile distribution and Trade Marketing initiatives.
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall productivity, efficiency, and profitability of distribution channels, as well the development and implementation of all Trade Marketing activities.
ROLE DEFINITION & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Distribution & Trade Marketing Manager takes ownership of the Indirect distribution and Trade Marketing functions by:
- Participating in the definition of the commercial path to growth and profitability and the establishment of an effective Sales process and infrastructure in support of the Company’s business objectives. Participating in the elaboration of annual budgets and sales forecasts.
- Identifying and devising means to improve sales capabilities, performance capacity and productivity of actual and new distribution channels.
- Development and formulation of channels policy, strategy, setting goals and assessment of competition strategy, policy, sales activities towards channels.
- Undertaking continuous monitoring of the overall sales process through careful review of results and proactively initiating best practice to act on opportunities to meet and exceed targets
- Piloting the demarcation of geographic regions into distribution zones and routes, ensuring appropriate apportioning of same to distribution partners
- Developing Sales collateral materials (sales presenters, POS materials, etc) in collaboration with Marketing.
- Providing support in the establishment of KPIs, performance metrics and operational targets to increase sales revenues and exceed targets in each channel.
- Monitoring the accuracy and efficient distribution of sales reports and other market intelligence essential to the sales organization and recommending revisions to existing reports, and assisting in the development of new reporting tools as needed.
- Proposing Trade Investment Programmes and Channel Incentives to drive sales. Design and develop reward and recognition programmes to continuously motivate and engage the sales force and distribution channels.
- Collecting, analyzing and evaluating market data and channels’ performance for continuous improvement of distribution, sales process and procedures.
- Ensuring effective management of resources and adequate allocation as required by the business
JOB REQUIREMENT:
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a business-related course with a good pass record and preferably a minimum 8 years’ experience in a Telecommunications or FMCG business with solid experience in Sales, Distribution, and Trade Marketing.
- Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience in a distributor/wholesale and/or retail sales position
- A self-driven sales leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and approach to business with an intuitive understanding of customers’ needs and buying behaviour.
- Demonstrable expertise of developing, managing and nurturing strong customer relationships by effectively communicating the company’s value proposition through proposals and presentations to accomplish customer growth, revenue and profit goals.
- Strong leadership qualities with exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal capabilities. Excellent written and oral English and French Language skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Highly experienced in developing successful sales and distribution strategies, performance metrics, tactics and techniques based on the feedback of the customer and market environment to acquire and retain customers.
- Demonstrable excellent people-management, motivation and team building skills
- Highly proficient in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proven high-level numerical and analysis skills
- Willingness to work long hours as and when required in accordance with business requirements
