ROLE PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Sales & Distribution Director, the Indirect Sales Manager will be responsible for managing and supporting wholesale distributors and retailers operating in designated geographic regions.
The main objective of the Indirect Sales Manager is to develop an effective indirect distribution channel through nurturing successful relationships with strategic partners and ensuring peak availability and promotion of products through this channel countrywide at all times.
The incumbent will ensure and be accountable for the planning required to achieve the KPIs, standards and measures so as to meet the set goals of this channel. The job function involves managing, supporting and ensuring the performance and maintenance of Company standards by the wholesale distributors and retailers.
ROLE DEFINITION & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Indirect Sales Manager is responsible for the set-up, development and animation of distributors’ network, and managing those relationships to maximise the indirect distribution channel by ensuring permanent availability of products and achieve connections, gross sales and market share targets.
- Maintain a permanent and close relationship with distributors through regular visits, update on new offers, coaching, best practices sharing. Providing effective support to new wholesale distributors during their start-up period through to the delivery of sales direction and familiarisation with Vodafone processes.
- Undertaking regular review meetings with the manager/owner of each wholesale distributor to review actual performance against targets set and agreeing any remedial action required, if any, to maximise performance.
- In accordance with the established company processes and procedures, establishing and maintaining monthly and quarterly sales and performance targets with each distributor and aligning incentives programmes accordingly.
- Manage and develop Distribution partners channel in order to guarantee their profitability.
- Ensure identification of new subscribers and data products is made across the channel, as well as effective usage of products by customers.
- Effectively overseeing the lead management process by promptly responding to leads and the onward forwarding to the requisite distributor and ensuring timely follow up and action.
- Identifying distributor’s staff training needs and coordinating the organization of training sessions.
- Proficiently conducting ‘mystery shopper’ inspections of retail points of sale to ensure Vodafone’s products are adequately stocked, properly promoted and sold in accordance with Company standards and pre-determined guidelines
- In relation with Trade marketing team, plan, animate and assess trade investment programs for Distributors.
- Working in close conjunction with the marketing team, interact and agree with each distributor on the optimal approach to implement short-term local sales promotions within the respective distributors’ territories.
- Delivering all the applicable daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly management reports within the prescribed deadlines and standards. Continuously scanning the competitive marketplace to provide regular and accurate market intelligence to colleagues within the organisation on market and competition trends and activities.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a business-related course with a good pass record and preferably a minimum 6 years’ experience in Telecommunication or FMCG business with:
- Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience in a distributor/wholesale sales/distribution position
- At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory/management position
- Demonstrable excellent people-management, motivation and team building skills
- Excellent written and oral English and French language skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Highly proficient in MS Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Prior experience working in telecommunications in a fast-moving, rapidly evolving environment
- Proven high-level numerical and analysis skills
- Willingness to work long hours as and when required in accordance with business requirements
