The United World Food Programme is looking for the services of a Programme Assistant (Nutrition) with competences listed below
TITLE: Programme Assistant (Nutrition)

Accountabilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Logistic Officer Head of Unit and the overall supervision of the Head of Bertoua sub office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Perform specialized and/or standardized processes and activities within the specific technical area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
- Provide project management and / or general office support following established targets and WFP’s policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of nutrition projects and activities, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider nutrition policies and guidance.
- Provide project management support to specific and defined nutrition projects and activities, ensuring a co-ordinated approach with wider programmes/projects that complies with WFP standards and procedures. Perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. food security and vulnerability assessments) following corporate standards and guidelines.
- Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities. And develop and co-ordinate data gathering and monitoring/ assessment systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
- Support communication and activities with local partners, agencies NGO’s and government institutions.
- Track and analyze data to provide input into reporting activities and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on nutrition activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
- Liaise with implementing partners (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring effective collaboration, timeliness and efficiency, and highlight potential risk to project delivery.
- Support the identification of potential partners and partnership negotiations to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach to meeting nutrition needs.
- Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to prepare for and respond to nutrition needs for example the production and review of training materials.
- Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required meeting emergency food assistance needs.
- Perform any other duties.
Education:
- Secondary school, preferably supplemented by courses in a field of nutrition related to WFP programmatic activities.
Experience:
- At least three years of progressively work experience including at least two years in the field of nutrition most especially in management of acute malnutrition or other related field.
Knowledge & skills
- Able to facilitate communication with technical team (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.)
- Experience working in public health/food security/nutrition related activities.
- Experience identifying and defining nutrition issues/problems within a country.
- Able to utilize knowledge of vitamins and nutrients to understand the causes of malnutrition , the relationships between the different types of malnutrition, and being able to articulate the UNICEF conceptual model.
- Able to appropriately interpret the nutrition situation, analyze primary causes of malnutrition, define limitations to the analysis (e.g. seasonality) and prepare an overview of the food security and nutrition situation in country
- Knowledge on WFP’s Nutrition interventions such as blanket feeling and targeted supplementary feeding will be an asset.
Language:
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and the duty station’s language, if different.
Other desire skills:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft software application, particularly MS- office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.)
