CONTEXT
The company’s future success depends on the Corporate Relations (RC) critical role and ability to positively shape the environment to enable the business to grow and win. Public Policy and Alcohol in Society are at the heart of our CR strategy for delivering Guinness Cameroun Performance Ambition
PURPOSE
To support our ambition to:
- Transform GCSA reputation in order to exceed our actual and future financial plans and protect our freedom to operate;
- Improve the regulatory environment to create opportunities for GCSA to grow and win;
- Model and implement relevant strategies around taxes to offer significant advantages to GCSA in innovation and mainstream spirits as well as maintaining our core advocacy trend on moving from ad valorem to specific taxation structure with rates which enable GCSA to become the best performing CG Company in Cameroon;
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications
- At least a Master in Finance, Economics, Fiscal Law, Social Sciences, Public Relations, etc..
Experience
- At least 8 years relevant experience, preferably in a similar role/industry, government, or in consultancy
- Good understanding of the public policy process and looks for opportunities to access and influence it to the benefit of the business.
- Quickly develop a strong understanding of the regulatory / tax / issues which impact the business.
- Excellent ‘radar’, constantly looking for potential issues, threats or opportunities in the external environment. Able to assess relevance and prioritise actions / responses.
KEY SKILLS
- The ability to operate in dynamic, cross-cultural and complex environments, combining in-depth CR expertise and an understanding of the commercial environment.
- Experience in Diageo or a highly regulated industry is an advantage.
- Experience in hands-on, live crisis management is an advantage.
- Fluency in both English and French (writing and speaking) is fundamental.
- Strong lT skills base, including mastery in Excel, PowerPoint and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
As Alcohol in Society & Public Policy (AiS&PP) Manager, Guinness Cameroun, you should be able to:
- Lead the development of the Alcohol in Society & Public Policy strategy and its effective implementation in agreement with the CRD
- Be accountable for and works closely with Diageo Global CR and Public Policy teams to drive, manage and deliver market CR initiatives for key markets
- Play a leading role in building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders (esp. government, communities, media, industry) for the benefit of GCSA’s strategy
- Have a strong understanding and experience of social, economic, environmental policies, positions, compliance and reporting and GCSA approach.
- Lead the AIS&PP section in implementing highly focused and accurate measurement of issue impact and resolution of GCSA commercial and reputational goals. Encourages the business to engage with the need to protect GSCA licence to operate and reputation and generates ownership amongst key business leaders.
