Call for Applications for the position of a KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT OFFICER FOR THE TOOLS4SEEDSYSTEMS PROJECT (NATIONALLY RECRUITED STAFF)
IITA Cameroon is looking a Knowledge Management Officer for the Tools4SeedSystems Project with solid ability for developing evidence-based case studies, fostering interactive learning, and effectively disseminating insights across the project’s learning network. The position will be based in Ngaoundéré.
Founded by USAID-BHA through the International Potato Center (CIP), the Tools4SeedSystems Project aims to enhance the effectiveness and appropriateness of USAID BHA’s agricultural programming investments in countries with RTB agri-food systems to achieve food security and resilience goals.
A - Duties
The Knowledge Management officer will ensure that the project’s efforts are well-informed, strategically communicated, and impactful in achieving food security and resilience goals. In addition, the specialist will connect field collaborators with regional, continental, and global players, bringing field experiences into focus on the potential of RTBs in humanitarian interventions, addressing humanitarian actors' needs, and integrating lessons from other seed initiatives in fragile contexts. By bridging field experiences with broader stakeholder engagement, the specialist will significantly enhance the project’s ability to deliver on its mission and maximize the benefits of RTBs and other seed initiatives in fragile and emergency contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Learning Network Facilitation:
- Coordinate the learning network, ensuring active engagement and collaboration among stakeholders.
- Foster an environment of continuous learning and knowledge sharing among field collaborators and global players.
- Organize regular meetings, workshops, and webinars to facilitate knowledge exchange.
- Case Study Development:
- Work with partners to collect and analyze data from field activities to develop comprehensive, evidence-based case studies.
- Document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned from various seed initiatives in fragile and emergency contexts.
- Ensure that case studies are accessible and disseminated effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge Management:
- Develop and implement a knowledge management strategy to capture and disseminate key insights and findings.
- Maintain a central repository of resources, including case studies, reports, and relevant research. o Utilize knowledge management tools and platforms to enhance information sharing and collaboration.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Understand and address the needs of humanitarian actors, ensuring their perspectives are integrated into the learning network.
- Engage with other seed initiatives to share experiences and collaborate on common challenges and solutions.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Monitor the effectiveness of the learning network and knowledge management activities.
- Collect feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on knowledge management activities and their impact.
- Communications:
- Develop communication materials to promote the learning network and its activities.
- Ensure effective internal and external communication of key insights and findings.
- Where need be, represent the project at conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.
Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
B – Qualification and work experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, Knowledge Management, Communications, Agriculture, Seed Systems or a related discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in agricultural knowledge management, preferably within the humanitarian or development sectors.
- Proven experience in developing and managing learning networks or communities of practice.
- Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality case studies and reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in knowledge management tools and platforms.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Familiarity with seed systems and agricultural interventions in humanitarian contexts.
- Knowledge of Roots, Tubers and Banana crops (RTBs) and their role in humanitarian interventions
C – Language:
- The candidate must communicate fluently in English and French both written and spoke
D - Workplace
- The incumbent of the position will be based in Ngaoundéré-Adamaoua Region, Cameroon.
E- Contract type and duration
- This will be a two (02) years renewable fixed term position
F – Working hours
- The incumbent must be available to work full time with flexible hours.

- The position is limited to Cameroonian citizens;
