We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a high-profile company specialized in equipment’s, logistics and services base in Douala.

JOB BRIEF
We are looking for Mechanical Engineer to execute engineering duties in the installation, alignment, testing and maintenance of the power plants and other equipment’s in conformity to safety, environment, operations, performance, quality, plant image and community relations. Within their domain of competence they will manage projects; upgrades; betterment; analysis of equipment; surveillance data to generate intervention actions; equipment availability follow up; reliability and assistance in troubleshooting.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications and Experience
- Master degree or Equivalent Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 02 years' experience in management of forklifts, generators and trucks.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not Exhaustive)
- Organize commissioning schedules in coordination with the equipment supplier, contractors, testing and engineering team to match with the project plan and timeframe;
- Collaborate with the engineering and procurement department to ensure material and equipment is readily available to complete work in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner;
- Ensure proper installation, alignment and testing of plant equipment on site;
- Regularly communicate consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders regarding work progress;
- Test all equipment and systems upon completion of construction process;
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all plant equipment;
- Ensure the operational feasibility of the plant by assessing and maintaining the proper functioning of all plant equipment for continuous operations;
- Review designs of equipment installations and propose to stakeholders;
- Perform regular inspection of equipment to quickly identify and respond to emergency repair needs;
- Ensure that plant equipment is well maintained at optimum cost and quality and constantly review and recommend improvements for cost reduction in purchasing and maintaining equipment;
- Partake in daily coordination meetings to review corrective work orders, inspection reports and incidents and assist in the planning of maintenance work;
- Execute other duties related to preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance as may be assigned by the head;
- Keep records of possible irregularities observed on the equipment during inspection or maintenance.
Skills and attributes required:
- Good communication skills, an outstanding aptitude to work in a team;
- Good problem solving skills and critical thinking skills;
- Ability to effectively work under pressure with no supervision;
- A good operational knowledge of mechanical processes in power plants;
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it;
- Understand safety measures in a power plant;
- Fluent in spoken and written English and a working knowledge in French;
- Very good Microsoft Office skills.
