UNICS Plc is a Microfinance Institution created on the 15th of January 2000. Among other conventional financial products like savings accounts and current accounts with a diversity of suitable and adaptable loan products, UNICS Plc has significantly invested  in the development of value added services like Automated Teller Machines and international Bank Cards, bank to wallet account link , Online Banking, SMS Banking, Virtual Private Network, and many others. For the past 24 years UNICS Plc has been able to position itself as one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Cameroon with well-developed products tailored to the needs of the public.

To lead the legal affairs and debt recovery team, UNICS Plc is seeking applications from suitable candidates for the position of Head of Legal, Litigation and Recovery Department.

In order to successfully achieve the purpose of this role, the position holder will:

• Work on the legal risk analyses during credit processing and expertise in the constitution of collaterals as prescribed by OHADA Uniform Act;
• Have an aptitude in Management of litigations and contentions such as credit litigations, social, general, criminal contentions;
• Improve the legal, Litigation and Recovery policies and procedures and ensure their perfect implementation;
• Work with assigned legal practitioners to initiate appropriate legal action, within the frame work of debt recovery and other legal issues assigned to him;
• Undertake the amicable and forceful recovery of debts in line with the simplified and forceful recovery procedures as prescribed by OHADA.
• Have a good understanding of  the OHADA Uniform Acts, and COBAC regulations
• A personality that is self motivated, engaging, positive, result driven and posses the maturity and personality to command respect.
• Be able to advise Management on legal related issues.
• Have a mastery on the constitution and management of collaterals.

Qualification and Skills:

• Have at least five years of practical experience in debt recovery experience in a Financial Institution or debt collection department in another company shall be an added advantage.
•  Have at least a Master in Business Law or other equivalent professional studies in law.
•  Practical experience in the chambers of legal practitioners (Barrister, Bailiffs, and Notary Public, etc) shall equally be an added advantage.
•  Have a good mastery of the OHADA Uniform Acts and Jurisprudence.
• Have the ability to negotiate and to design agreements for amicable settlements.

• Exceptional ability to communicate in English and French verbally and in writing,
• Good knowledge in contemporary legal issues,
• Able to work in a team fostered environment,
• At least a good working  knowledge in Excel, word and power point
• Be skilled in maintaining a flexible customer focused culture to the interest of the company.
• Be capable of working under pressure.
