Duties

Incumbent serves as Journeyman painter. Paints and vanishes all mission office buildings and residences. Paints the interior and exterior of these buildings and other miscellaneous items as required.

Paints and vanishes walls, floors, cabinets, shelves, woodworks, and metal doors. Paint can be applied by brush or spray. Repairs sheet rock, mixes color paint for touch-up, reads and interprets paint schedule in NEC, evaluates and estimates paint materials for any project and exercises specific safety precautions when using painting materials. Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on all equipment used in the painting shop. Responsible for the upkeep of the shop.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE:  Two years of Journeyman painting work experience in a diplomatic mission, an international organization, or large local institution is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Incumbent must be able to read and understand instruction manuals for all tools required for performing duties, and be able to make drawing and sketches for tools and equipment. He/She must be familiar with different kinds of paints and their quality, must make proper use of construction tools, and must have good knowledge of how to apply paint.

Education Requirements: Completion of Elementary school is required.

Evaluations:

  • LANGUAGE: Level 1 (Rudimentary) speaking/reading/writing English is required. This will be tested.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Incumbent must be able to identify the quality of paint and must be able to mix and obtain the right color paint. Skills and abilities will be tested.
