JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
A Development Organization is seeking the services of a qualified, experienced and highly motivated Livelihood Project Assistants (PAs) who will be responsible for coordinating implementation of diverse livelihood activities. In collaboration with the Project Officers (POs) and Animators, PAs will ensure the quality of services and activities delivered by the organization to beneficiaries across the following sites; Batouri, Bertoua, Garoua Boulai and Yokadouma.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Activities:
- Plan, implement and monitor livelihood activities (agriculture, livestock, and income generating activities, community savings schemes and vocational training).
- Support transparent participatory selection of beneficiaries.
- Develop and implement weekly action plans according to the project’s detailed implementation plan.
- Hold regular meetings/trainings with target population throughout project implementation.
- Build the capacity of local leaders, committees and beneficiaries to sustain their own livelihoods.
- Implement sensitization activities with local communities and local authorities (chiefs, traditional leaders) and act as a point of contact for beneficiaries.
- Identify beneficiaries land needs and support PO in running seed, tool, livestock and commercial fairs.
- Provide logistical support for training of beneficiaries in agriculture, basic livestock management, and marketing and animal sale techniques.
- Provide ongoing support to Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC).
- Identify groups conducting successful IGAs with a beneficial impact on the community.
- Support economic interest groups and credit management committees in villages.
Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability and Learning:
- Implement data collection tools in collaboration with the MEAL Assistant.
- Monitor progress and suggest strategic changes where necessary. Submit timely site and activity reports to the PO.
- Share community feedback, complaints and cases of misconduct with the PO and PM. Collect human interest stories.
- Facilitate logistics for internal and external field visits/missions. Assist PM and PO, MEAL or Operations Team during monitoring visits.
General:
- Communicate CRS values and mission at community level. Ensure CRS visibility: physical presence in implementation sites is mandatory.
- Periodically represent CRS at coordination meetings with partners to gain an understanding of activities, unmet needs and security concerns.
- Ensure that liquidations are timely and that all receipts conform to CRS standards prior to submission.
- Ensure project equipment and materials are well management and their utilization documented.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Graduate degree in agriculture, livestock, rural development, business studies or related field. Significant work experience in a directly related field may be considered in lieu of graduate degree.
- At least 1-year experience working in an emergency or conflictual context on a livelihoods project. Experience implementing humanitarian project for refugees, IDPs and host communities funded by international donors is desirable.
- Demonstrated capacity in community sensitization, activity design, planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Experience in protection gender mainstreaming and conflict sensitivity is desirable.
- Competence with the following IT tools; MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and the Internet.
- Fluency in French (written and spoken). Working knowledge of English is desirable. Knowledge of local languages (Sango, Fufulleh) is a significant asset.
- Ability to work with remote supervision under pressure facing tight time schedules.
- Ability to collaborate with different people of different backgrounds and work in a multi-cultural team.
- Strong inter-personal skills and capacity to mobilize communities.
- Driving License: category A is an asset.
