As part of the implementation of the sixth Corporation programs in Cameroon (2013-2017). The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) seeks to strengthen the capacity of the country office with one(01) Driver for its office Yaoundé. The position immediately for an initial period of 12 months, renewable.
Job description
Under the authority of the UNFPA representative and delegation under the supervision of the international Operations Manager, the drive shall; inter alia, fulfill the following functions’:
- Drive the representative, staffs/ project officers in the activities of the office and / or program; facilitate the movement of personnel places of official appointments;
- Plans and selects routes which are safe and efficient and meet the representative and passengers needs
- Undertake missions to the country with the representative and staff;
- Use judgment to avoid unnecessary risks in driving;
- Regularly and conscientiously maintain vehicles (check oil, water, periodic draining mileage basic) perform minor repairs;
- Ensure cleanliness of vehicles and check the condition of the vehicle at any time;
- Maintain the logbook of the vehicle (record mileage) raise vehicle mileage every morning and evening and park the vehicle at the time indicated the parking reserved for this purpose;
- Deliver mails;
- Possess excellent driving skills and techniques adapting driving style to prevailing conditions;
- Attempt to meet deadlines and schedules whilst ensuring safety and efficient use of vehicle;
- Perform minor repairs and ensure that drive and passengers reach destination satefy in case of a breakdown;
- Build and maintain contacts with relevant individuals to keep up to date knowledge of security situation and risk;
- Ensure communication equipment and vehicle is available and functioning;
- Meet clients’ needs for moving around, acting as guide and negotiator on own initiative;
- Inform clients about local conditions relating to security, mobility and transportation;
- Facilitate arrival and departure of clients assisting in immigration and custom formalities;
- Seek feedback on the clients satisfaction with the service provides;
- Demonstrate willingness to undertake unexpected or additional task to assist a client;
- Perform other duties as requested by the office;
- Carry out other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma of secondary education or its equivalent;
- Driving license B, with at least 5 years of professional experience (experience at the service of the united nations would be an asset)
- Fluency in English and French
- Experience/ competency related to high level visit, location of diplomatic missions, govemment offices would be an distinctive advantage
Other requirements:
- Good composure and appearance, flexibility, courtesy etc…
- Good knowledge of all parts of Cameroon, using HF, VHF radio. Knowledge in auto mechanics would be an asset.
