JOB ADVERT : LOUNGE / RESTAURANT SERVER

Location: Douala, Cameroon

Industry: Hospitality sector

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation and Mise en Place:  

• Ensure the restaurant/lounge is fully prepared before service, including cleaning floors and bathroom, setting up tables, polishing glassware, and organizing workstations.
• Stock and replenish service items such as napkins, cutlery, and condiments. 
• Collaborate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service flow.

2. Service: 

• Welcome and seat guests, presenting menus and making recommendations. 
• Take and serve food and drink orders promptly and accurately.
• Ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience by being attentive and accommodating special requests.
• Process bills and payments efficiently.

3. Cleaning and Maintenance: 

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the service area throughout the shift. 
• Clear and reset tables promptly. 
• Follow cleaning schedules for all equipment and spaces within the restaurant/lounge.

4. Client Satisfaction: 

• Address and resolve guest complaints or escalate them to management when necessary.
•  Engage with clients to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat visits.

5. Teamwork: 

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery. 
• Assist team members during busy periods and contribute to a positive work environment.

Requirements:

Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred. (3 – 5 years)

Education: Background in hospitality management or related training is advantageous.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills in (Must speak French, addition of English is preferred) 
• Ability to multitask and handle pressure in a fast-paced environment. 
• Exceptional teamwork and collaboration abilities.

Professionalism:  

• Neat and presentable appearance at all times. 
• Punctuality and reliability are essential. 
• Friendly and courteous demeanor with a focus on client satisfaction.

Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours and work at night (typical shift is from 4 pm to 12.30 am), and late hours when required.
