Plan Cameroon is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of Disaster Risk Management Advisor(DRM) to be based in its Country Office, Yaoundé. The contract is for one year renewable. It will be governed by Cameroon Labour Law.
Main responsibilities - Key End Results of the Position
The incumbent will among many other task perform the following:
- Responsible for overall coordination of al disasters related projects/activities to align them with the DRM strategy-preparedness and emergency response.
- Ensure that DRM section is including in Plan Cameroon Country Strategic Plan(CSP) and Country Programmes(CP) so that new funding opportunities as appropriate.
- Implementation of Plan Cameroon DRM program Support Programme Units(PUs) in the event of emergency to give proper responses
- Advises CMT(Country Management Team) and PUs on emergency response and preparedness programming(health, education, protection, etc...)
- Develops partnership with relevant Ministries, UN agencies and NGOs on disaster response
- Supports disasters related internal evaluation and programme development
- Build unity in-house through information sharing and participation to ensure that Plan Cameroon adheres, and contributes to best practice in programme and policy development.
- Monitors risk register to update it accordingly.
- Assists in the production of the result chain and Plans
- Supports production of council and community child centered disaster plan
- Ensures that Plan's Child Protection Policy and related procedures are adhered to in all aspects of work
- Complies with Plan's Child Protection Policy at all times to safeguard and protect children from all forms of abuse.
- Ensure the region of IH are timely informed about any disaster management issues in the country, via sitrep
- Support the recruitment of any staff for disaster related activities, response or risk reduction
- Build capacities of the country team, communities' members and relevant partners in DRM and ensure that all new staff recruited for DRM activities is timely and efficiently oriented: code of conduct, Sphere, INEE etc.
- Ensure DRM program and activities as monitored and implemented the best way in regards of Plan relevant policies and systems in place: PPM, CPPR, APPR, etc.
- Ensure the quality of DRM projects abide international rules in that field.
Qualification and Experience
- At least a university degree or equivalent
- Familiarity with disaster/emergency response/risk management.
- Three years of working experience in programme/project planning, monitoring and evaluation; and demonstrated research competence

Travel requirements
This position entails 30% travelling to the field to support communities, staff and partners in the Program Units as well as travels to the regional office.
