Plan Cameroon is in the process of acquiring a grant from the World Food Program(WFP) for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities relating to  the management of Moderate Acute Malnutrition(MAM) in the East, North and Far-North regions. Within this framework we are looking for potential Cameroonian candidates for one year duration renewable contract to fulfill the positions below:

NB: Awarding employment contracts to selected candidates will depend on the final agreement on the grant with the donor.

Title: National Program Coordinator, Supplementary Feeding Program(SFP).

Duty Station: Yaoundé or Garoua with a possibility to be transferred anywhere in Cameroon

Main responsabilities and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Program Operations Manager, the National Supplementary Feeding Program Coordinator will among other tasks perform the following:

  • Ensure all staff involved in the project understands the newly updated National protocol for the management of acute malnutrition and the experience of this project.
  • Ensure the implementing partners at local level(Health Areas) understand and implement the newly updated National protocol for the management of acute malnutrition.
  • Ensure systematic/correct supplies of foodstuffs n the distribution points, the respect of the distribution plans
  • Ensure the enrollment of children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women(PLW) in the SFP respects the standardized criteria
  • Ensure the water hygiene and sanitation(WASH) component of the project is properly implemented
  • Attend nutrition cluster meetings at National and local level
  • Represent Plan in external meetings, donor visits, etc.
  • Review and share articles issues from the PUs relating to the SFP
  • Compile, analyze and share lessons learnt
  • Design new food assistance and nutrition projects/programs

Qualification and Experience

  • Post-Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline(Nutrition, Public Health, Humanitarian response) and/or proven experience in implementing a Nutrition project.
  • Extensive knowledge on the new National Protocol of the Management of Acute Malnutrition
  • At least 2 years experience in working for a reputable international humanitarian and development organization. Experience in the management of a nutrition project will be an added value

Skills and Experience Required

  • Excellent computer skills;
  • At least 3 years of project coordination/management and implementation, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, team and office management or related field, of which 2 should be with some experience in a senior management position. Work experience particularly in community development is desirable.
  • Understanding of and experience with humanitarian development organizations, and accompaniment and capacity-building principles in local partnerships highly desired.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French.

Skills and Behaviour

  • Knowledge on the food assistance and nutrition sector
  • Extensive knowledge of emergency nutrition work, design and implementation of feeding projects including monitoring and evaluation
  • Extensive knowledge on nutrition issues in the East, North and Far-North regions
  • Knowledge on international humanitarian standards and codes of conduct
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in sponsorship and strong knowledge of project management in particular and program activities in general
  • Excellent computer skills(Microsoft office including words, excel, power point, internet, etc.)
