SENIOR DRIVER (GRADE: ICS3/G3)

As part of the implementation of the sixth Cooperation Programme in Cameroon(2013-2017), the United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA) seeks to strengthen the capacity of the country office with one(01) Driver for its office in Yaounde. This position is available immediately for an initial period of 12 months, renewable.
Job description
Under the authority of the UNFPA Representative and delegation under the supervision of the International Operations Manager, the driver shall, inter alia, fulfill the following functions:
- Drive the Representative, staff/Project Offices in the activities of the office and/or program; facilitate the movement of personnel to places of official appointments;
- Plans and selects routes which are safe and efficient and meet the Representative and passengers' needs
- Undertake missions to the country with the Representative and staff;
- Use judgement to avoid unnecessary risks in driving;
- Regularly and conscientiously Maintain vehicles(check oil, water, periodic draining mileage basis) perform minor repairs;
- Ensure cleanliness of vehicles and check the condition of the vehicle at all time;
- Maintain the logbook of the vehicle(Record mileage), raise vehicle mileage every morning and evening and park the vehicle at the time indicated, in the parking reserved for this purpose;
- Deliver mails;
- Possess excellent driving skills and techniques adapting driving style to prevailing conditions;
- Attempt to meet deadlines and schedules whilst ensuring safety and efficient use of vehicles;
- Perform minor repairs and ensure that driver and passengers reach destination safely in case of a breakdown;
- Build and maintain contacts with relevant individuals to keep up-to-date knowledge of security situations and risks;
- Ensure communication equipment and vehicles are available and functionning;
- Meet clients' needs for moving around, acting as guide and negotiator on own initiative;
- Facilitate arrival and departure of clients assisting in immigration and customs formalities;
- Seek feedback on the client's satisfaction with the service provided;
- Demonstrate willingness to undertake unexpected or additional tasks to assist a client;
- Perform other duties as requested by the office;
- Carry out other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Secondary Education or its equivalent;
- Driving license B, with at least 5 years of professionnal experience(experience at the service of the United Nations would be and asset);
- Fluency in English and/or French;
- Experience/competency related to high level visits, location of diplomatic missions, government offices would be a distinctive advantage.
Other requirements
- Good composure and appearance, flexibility, courtesy, etc..
- Good knowledge of all parts of Cameroon, using HF, VHF radio. Knowledge in auto mechanics would be an asset.
