JOB ADVERT: Procurement Analyst

Addax Petroleum Cameroon Company S.A. is locking for motived experienced candidates for the following openings in the Supply Chain Management Department.

1. Procurement Analyst

Job Purpose/Summary

The Procurement Analyst ensures the availability of required generic materials and services for the business sourced both locally and overseas. He/she interface with internal customers (Ops/Tech, IT, HSSE, EA, GS, HR, FIN), vendors and freight forwarders to achieve the best value outcome for the company.

  • Responsible for acquisition of materials in the most cost effective manner that guarantees quality and value for money. She/he will issue requests for quotations and ITTs to potential vendors, develop an evaluation structure, manage bid analysis, negotiate best value for money and select vendors
  • Negotiate and manage cost-effective long-term pricing agreements for generic commonly-used materials to secure beneficial terms and conditions for the Company
  • Monitor requests from the business and ensure team members maintain a good understanding of products, quality and the procurement guidelines
  • Manage the supplier-requestor product specification-clarification process, and ensure specialized and complex information to either party is properly managed to fully satisfy end-user needs.
  • Track all POs and expedite deliveries to ensure on schedule delivery. Alert end-users of any potential delivery problem and initiate an alternate plan to satisfy the Business
  • Carry out (with HSSE Dept.) HSSE audit of major vendors and carry out performance assessments especially on strategic and critical vendors. Follow up on actions for improvement to guarantee enhanced and sustainable supplies
  • Develop positive procurement relationships with End Users, Subject Matter Experts in Headquarter, suppliers and deliver significant cost savings through the management of contracts and assurance of contractor performance
  • Responsible for reporting the procurement KPIs (eg Cost Optimization report, contractor performance management report, pure procurement plan) monthly to management and quarterly to Excom. Deviations are analyzed and improvement plan implemented. Update the contracting activity planner (CAP) to ensure quality and up-to date contract information for business planning and decision making
  • Ensure materials are delivered in the with Company HSSE Management Standard; fully participate in all HSSE activities and awareness sessions to improve Company HSSE culture and performance.

Interface & Dimensions

Internal Interface

  • The incumbent is part of the SCM Team of 23, including 6 roustabouts
  • APCC Leadership Team Members
  • End users from various departments, Contract Holders and Budget Owners
  • Warehouse for verifying stock levels before ordering

External Interface

  • Other Addax Petroleum operating companies including Nigeria and Gabon
  • Sinopec Procurement Unit
  • Vendors (local and international), freight forwarders.


  • Total yearly procurement value estimated at USD 15 Million USD
  • Total yearly number of orders placed estimated at 1,000 (85-90 order/month)
  • Savings ensured to the company of at least 10% annually.

Key Challenges

  • Securing sufficient knowledge of future demand to influence users to plan realistic ROS dates
  • Work under pressure and sometimes long hours in a dynamic and intense environment
  • Reducing supplier lead times to meet business needs and managing the tension between delivery schedules and inadequate requisitions lead times.
  • Managing inadequate information on requisitions, e.g. inadequate specifications
  • Securing correct and timely reports to the companywide
  • Ensuring compliance with SCM procedures
  • Limited local market information, sources of supply and available quality commodities

Experiences / Competence & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in EP operations, with at least 2 years in Supply Chain Management
  • Certification in Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Levels 4 & 5 is an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation skills, good working relationships with internal and external counterparties
  • Good knowledge of the materials/services used in the energy sector
  • Good knowledge of local and overseas supply markets
  • Excellent time management, organization, planning, execution and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, ERPs)
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems will be an added advantage
  • Good safety awareness High moral & ethical standards.
  • Good customer/client relationship management
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and assuming more responsibility
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude, Willingness to constantly learn and improve
