The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF, or the Foundation), a non-profit organization, is the world leader in the fight to eliminate pediatric AIDS. Its mission is to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eliminate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) has worked in Cameroon since 2000 through local and established international organizations and presently has an established office in Cameroon.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision of the Country Director/ Pediatric Technical Advisor, the person will support all HIV care and treatment activities for HIV Free Centre, and ensure that they are in compliance with EGPAF program standards, priorities of the Ministry of Health and donor priorities. This position, based in Yaounde will support the primary EGPAF Cameroon office in Yaoundé, as well as operational sites at the Djoungolo Health District in Yaoundé.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Definition, follow-up and technical-strategic advice to the field projects:

  1. S/he provides technical guidance to strengthen Global HIV (including TB/HIV integration) activities for all sites at the Djoungolo Health District in the framework of HIV Free.
  2. Work with the Regional delegation team and EGPAF country team to identify promising service delivery approaches to increase uptake of Pediatric HIV testing, linkages to care/ART, and retention/adherence
  3. S/he provides periodic update on HIV/TB aspects and knowledge to program staff and to other health care personnel
  4. S/he provides updated program working tools to support implementation of Global HIV related services
  5. S/he conducts targeted field visits to supported sites and implementation team, and technical support to regular project implementation.
  6. S/he follows actively, monitor and evaluate the service provided by program teams and HCWs, including supportive supervision of program staff and mentoring of site staff.

Training, communications-networking and representation of EGPAF

  1. S/he take lead in identification of the training needs related HIV/TB in with the MOH staffs.
  2. S/he participates as Facilitator–Trainer in all EGPAF/MOH related Global HIV Management Trainings.
  3. S/he organizes and participates in conferences, congresses, workshops, forums, or meetings when requested by the Country Director.

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  1. Medical Doctor specialized in HIV, infectious diseases, pediatrics or similar training
  2. At least 3 years’ experience in HIV management
  3. At lease 2-3 years’ clinical management experience in Pediatric HIV care and treatment
  4. Practical field experience in the implementation of HIV & TB activities in Cameroon, especially in integrated programs and including training of personnel.
  5. Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
  6. Demonstrated and strong understanding of the local HIV epidemic, context response, current national priorities, and trends is required
  7. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of staff in the Cameroon program is required
  8. Excellent writing , strategic thinking and analytical skills
  9. Highly organized with ability to prioritize and multi-task while working as part of a team
  10. Computer literate, with strong knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Office applications
  11. Honest, energetic, independent, self-motivated and administratively self-sufficient
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment.
